Nutrition & Wellbeing in Oceania

The joint conference of New Zealand and Australia Nutrition Societies was held in Auckland late November and attracted nearly 400 delegates. It was a fantastic four days of learning, networking and catching up with colleagues and friends.

Foodcom was delighted to sponsor an early-career masterclass, as we firmly believe in nurturing the talent and enthusiasm of those entering in the food and nutrition sector. Huge thanks to the organising committee, our hosts at Massey University in Albany and everyone who attended, especially those who shared their work. Stand out topics for us focussed on food systems and food security and being encouraged to consider ‘nutrient trade’ around the world was a fresh new take in these important discussions.

The conference also included the official launch of the Federation of Oceanic Nutrition Societies (FONS) which is a formal collaboration between nutrition societies around the Pacific. Wonderful to see this come to fruition as it aims to be a collective voice for nutrition in Oceania. There is much we can all learn from each other as every country strives for better health for our people.
