Masterclass with Nadia Lim

Talking all things NZ food with Nadia Lim as she led a masterclass sponsored by vegetables.co.nz at this year’s conference for food teachers through HETTANZ. A wonderful chance to feast on Nadia’s dishes of satay lamb (meat fresh from Royalburn station with delicious satay prepared in traditional Malaysian style - no peanut butter in sight!) and a frangipani tart with poached pears.

A casual yet thought-provoking conversation on the opportunity for New Zealand to excel in agri-tourism with a food experience focus, and how food subjects should be mandatory in schools at intermediate and secondary level. As preparing wholesome meals is a skill that sets people up for a healthy life, we couldn’t agree more.

The masterclass was also an opportunity to challenge everyone who attended to Add One More Vegetable to their day. The options are endless, and we love Nadia’s choice: prepare plenty of roasted vegetables for an evening meal then keep leftovers to reheat in the morning and top with a poached egg or two. Delicious. And that’s another serve or two of vegetables right there!
