It’s been all things vegetables this week at Horticulture New Zealand conference held in the stunning Te Pae in Christchurch. The challenges for this industry, that is so integral to both our own food supply and also our export $, can seem overwhelming: labour shortages, climate, regulation, bureaucracy, technology … it goes on and on - yet there is still positive and optimism
in the industry and so many opportunities ahead.
Thanks to all the fantastic speakers, the excellent political panel today and the stand-out performance by Matt Chisholm. Was an honour to hear him share his gritty, raw and action-packed life story in such a humourous and brutally honest way.
And shout out to the lovely staff at Te Pae who joined in an impromptu taste-testing session of kohlrabi - and for declaring it delicious! 😀👏🏻
